'Take Time' Exhibition at Ilkley Manor House

I was so delighted to be selected to participate in this Yorkshire based exhibition, running 16 September - October 2023.

The premise was that each artist offered their own consideration of our experience of time – the landmark moments in our lives and our aspirations for the future, as well as our sense of being in the present.

The work, drawn from artists across the UK, has been selected by an independent panel of highly respected professional gallerists and curators, Clare Alton-Fletcher (Chief Executive of West Yorkshire Print Workshop), Jane Kay (Creative Director at The Gallery, Sunny Bank Mills), Martyn Lucas (Artist & Curator at Turnpike Gallery) and Joanne Tinker (Artist & Gallerist at Tinker Gallery Ilkley) together with a number of Ilkley residents.

I submitted my hand made bridal bouquet to this exhibition and it represents my first ‘sculpture’ to ever be exhibited! Taking around 20 - 30 hours to create, it comprises 100 or so handmade flowers, buttons and metal detailing. Folded into those flowers are memories of that intense time, not only was I planning a wedding on a budget but we were also in the middle of a visa process. This exhibition actually coincided with us being granted permanent residency in the UK, which was a lovely full circle moment!
